October is the easiest season to get a team moving. Cooler weather, shorter daylight, and the natural pull of Halloween all work in your favor, and a themed Walktober challenge gives people a reason to show up every day instead of letting the habit fade by week two.
Each of our fall challenges runs for four weeks and works with or without a fitness tracker, so nobody’s left out because of the gear they own.
A Step Ahead ramps up the Walktober fun by turning a bland step challenge into an interactive walking adventure, complete with story, character creation, boss battles and much more.
Teams sync steps, follow along with a spooky storyline that unlocks new chapters as their team progresses, and can see how their team stacks up against others on on an interactive landscape. Our Walktober challenges are built for offices, remote teams, and hybrid groups alike: everyone shows up in the same app no matter where they’re logging in from.
Whether your team wants to chase down a missing candy stash, outrun grindhouse movie villains, or unravel a classic monster mystery, the goal is the same: more steps, more connection, and a reason to look forward to Walktober together.
A virtual walking challenge is a team based fitness program where participants log steps or active minutes through an app, progressing through a themed storyline together instead of just tracking numbers on a spreadsheet.
No. While A Step Ahead supports step syncing from all the most popular fitness trackers, it also has a built-in step tracker that uses your smartphone’s motion to log steps, so anyone can join regardless of what equipment they own.
Each of our three Walktober challenges runs for four weeks.
Teams can be 1-10 players, and challenges can support everything from a small department to an entire company, with everyone’s progress tracked together on one leaderboard. For large groups we have an advanced divisions system that can link together multiple smaller challenges to keep everyone engaged with more manageable number of teams per division.
Each virtual challenge follows a different family friendly Halloween themed story: a candy heist mystery, a grindhouse movie adventure, and a classic monster showdown, while using the same four week format and mechanics.
