Can you prevent the meltdown?
The signals are clear: The Happyvale Nuclear Power Plant is about to have a critical meltdown. This would irradiate the entire region and make the local zombies radioactive. There’s no telling how much more dangerous a radioactive zombie would be… but you don’t want to find out.
The Plant is 110 miles away, and the scientists at Fort Highview (where you’re based) estimate you have 60 days at the most to shut it down. Can you make the run, Vanguard?
To make matters even worse, there is something about the early radiation leaks that has agitated the zombies in the area making them more dangerous and faster than normal. If they catch you, they can turn you even faster than before. They travel at 6,000 steps per day. DON’T GET CAUGHT!
Outbreak medals are always earned, never given
The Outbreak: Apocalypse is a distance-based race. You have 60 days maximum to cover 110 miles (approximately 220,000 total steps at 3000 to 4000 steps per day). Finish within the maximum time allowed and we’ll mail you an epic finishers medal. The faster you finish, the better your score.
NOTE: You must complete the race in the allotted time to earn your medal.
Medal for finishers
Verified steps only
The Outbreak syncs steps and workouts from Apple Health (iOS) and Google Fit (Android), which connect activity from hundreds of fitness trackers and apps.
And because Apple Health and Google Fit can sync steps directly from the smartphone’s internal pedometer, using a fitness tracker is purely optional.
Outbreak medals are always earned, never given. Manual step entry is disabled for this race.
Does The Outbreak require a fitness tracker?
No. For users who don't have a discreet fitness tracker (like a Fitbit), The Outbreak can use the smartphone's internal pedometer to track activity. For users who do have a fitness tracker, The Outbreak connects to Apple Health (iOS) and Google Fit (Android), which each sync data from hundreds of fitness trackers and apps.
What's the difference between Outbreak challenges and virtual races?
The Outbreak has two distinct ways to play:
- Distance-based: Virtual race missions require players to reach a certain distance and the mission ends immediately when the distance is reached.
- Swag is included for finishers: Virtual race missions come with medals and/or other collectibles for those who complete the race.
- Duration-based: Challenge missions require players to stay active for a set amount of time, ranging from 2-6 weeks in length, depending on the mission. The mission ends only when time expires.
- No swag is included: Challenge missions do not come with medals or other collectibles.
When are medals and t-shirts shipped out?
Medals are automatically shipped when you complete your virtual race. It typically takes 3-5 business days from the time your race ends for processing, and transit times vary depending upon distance from our Atlanta, GA fulfillment center.
All medals are shipped with tracking services enabled and you will receive a tracking number for your shipment at the email you provided during checkout.
If you opt to add a t-shirt to your race, you'll be presented with the option to either have your t-shirt ship right away (expedited) for an additional shipping and handling fee, or ship with your medal at the end of your race for no additional charge.
Note: medals are only included with Outbreak virtual races and are not included with Outbreak challenges.
Since medals are earned by finishing virtual races, what happens if I don't finish?
Not to worry, if you don't finish your virtual race within the maximum time limit just send a note to our support team to receive a retry code for free.
Can I purchase more race seats later if I don't know how many people are going to participate right now?
Yes! Once you've purchased an event, there's a user-friendly event admin area where you can add more participants to your group code.
Why do you ask for the primary time zone?
Some game mechanics, like daily step goals, require a cutoff time to transition to the next day or week long period. We recommend that you choose the time zone where most of your group will be.
Is The Outbreak family friendly?
Yes. The tone and visuals are all family friendly.
