Samsung Health is the fitness app powering Samsung devices. It shares its data on Android via Health Connect.
Note: Samsung Health does not share its data with iOS, and therefore can’t be used with A Step Ahead on iPhone.
How to Connect
To add Samsung Health to your activity sources:
1. Tap Activity Sources in the game menu from the lobby or gameboard
2. Tap Pair a New Source
3. On the next screen choose I use an app on my phone, then select Samsung Health in the list of apps and tap Select this App
4. Now you’ll need to grant access to Health Connect. Tap Grant Access, then allow all the permissions on the pop-up that appears (scroll down to see them)
5. Samsung Health needs to be set up to sync its data to Health Connect in order for your steps and power to show up in your banks. Follow Samsung’s guide to do this, then return to the app and tap I Connected to Health Connect
6. A connection test will run to ensure data is flowing between Samsung Health and your banks. If there are any issues you’ll be notified, otherwise you’re ready to go!
How to Log Exercise
Samsung Health allows you to log exercise with a workout timer and by manually entering data. To do so, follow their guide here.

Troubleshooting
My steps or exercise aren’t being added to my banks
There are two major causes of syncing issues for Samsung Health:
- A Step Ahead doesn’t have the correct permissions to access data from Health Connect
- Samsung Health is not set to sync its data with Health Connect
To fix issue 1, check the App Permissions for A Step Ahead in your Android settings and make sure all requested Health Connect permissions are set to Allow.
To fix issue 2, follow this guide from Samsung.
How do I manually enter steps?
Samsung Health does not support manually entered steps. For steps to appear in the app, you’ll need to have either your phone or a Samsung wearable on you while you take steps.
How do I get power?
Samsung wearables will sync exercise they detect to Samsung Health, which are then transferred to A Step Ahead as power. If you want to manually track exercise, follow this guide.
