Garmin Connect is the app that powers Garmin-brand wearables.
How to Connect
To add Garmin Connect to your activity sources:
1. Tap Activity Sources in the game menu from the lobby or gameboard

2. Tap Pair a New Source
3. On the next screen choose I use an app on my phone, then select Garmin Connect in the list of apps and tap Select this App
4. You’ll need to authorize A Step Ahead to access your Garmin data. Tap Authorize, which will launch a browser tab where you can sign into your Garmin account and grant the permissions
5. A connection test will run to ensure data is flowing between Garmin Connect and your banks. If there are any issues you’ll be notified, otherwise you’re ready to go!
How to Log Exercise
Garmin devices automatically record exercise time which is synced to A Step Ahead, but Garmin allows you to log exercise manually.
Add Activity
To log exercise that you’ve already done:
1. Open the Garmin Connect navigate to the More tab:
2. Tap Activities, then Create Manual Activity
3. Enter the details for your exercise (the Time field is especially important) and tap Save
4. Your exercise is now logged and will appear in your power bank when you return to the A Step Ahead app
Troubleshooting
My steps or exercise aren’t being added to my banks
There are two major causes of syncing issues for Garmin:
- A Step Ahead doesn’t have the correct permissions to access data from your Garmin account
- Fitbit hasn’t synced its data to its servers
To fix issue 1, go through the How to Connect steps again and make sure you allow all permissions that are requested.
To fix issue 2, you can manually trigger a sync to your Garmin account by swiping down on the dashboard page of the Garmin Connect app.
How do I manually enter steps?
Garmin does not allow you to manually enter steps. To make sure you get credit for your steps, make sure you wear your Garmin watch when you do your activity.
How do I get power?
You earn power based on the number of minutes of exercise you’ve logged. Your Garmin devices will automatically record exercise time, but you can manually log a workout by following the steps in the How to Log Exercise section above.
