Apple Health is the platform health provider for iOS devices, and comes pre-installed on iPhones. It serves both as an aggregator for data from other apps and as a source of data itself.
How to Connect
To add Apple Health to your activity sources:
1. Tap Activity Sources in the game menu from the lobby or gameboard
2. Tap Pair a New Source
3. On the next screen choose “I use an app on my phone”, then select Health in the list of apps and tap Select this App
4. Now you’ll need to grant access to Health. Tap Grant Access, then toggle on all the permissions on the pop-up that appears and tap Allow
5. A connection test will run to ensure data is flowing between Health and your banks. If there are any issues you’ll be notified, otherwise you’re ready to go!
How to Log Exercise
You can use the Health app to manually add exercise you’ve done:
1. Open the Health app and navigate to the Browse tab
2. Tap Activity in the category list
3. Find and tap Workouts, which will either be a card with your recent data or in the No Data Available list

4. Tap Add Data in the top right
5. Enter the type, start time, and end time of the workout, then tap Add
6. The next time you open the ASA app, your workout will sync and power will be added to your bank
Troubleshooting
My steps or exercise aren’t being added to my banks
By default, the Apple Health app will only receive data from your phone’s pedometer. If you are tracking your activity with another app, you will need to make sure it is syncing its data to Apple Health before it will show up in A Step Ahead.
How do I manually enter steps?
The process for manually adding steps is very similar to the above steps for manually logging exercise. Simply choose the “Steps” category instead of “Workouts” and set the number of steps you’ve taken before adding your data.
Note: Manually added steps may be limited due to the set up process by the organizer of your mission.
How do I get power?
Power is earned from exercise time. Apple Health does not automatically record any exercise from your phone, so you’ll either need to connect another app that syncs exercise to Apple Health or manually log exercise using the steps above.
